It’s been one month to the day since the permanent closure of the South Park Bridge. And while the leaves of the bascule bridge remain in the upright position, the neighborhood remains awash with activity.
SDOT has been monitoring traffic patterns post-closure and traffic flow has been modified accordingly. Traffic signals have been adjusted, new channelization configurations have been implemented, and directional signage to local businesses will soon be installed. To help the freight community and the general public make informed decisions before traversing the Greater Duwamish area, our Traffic Management Center tweets whenever the 1st Avenue South Bridge or Spokane Street Bridge opens for marine traffic.
SDOT also provides support for community events like Market on Wheels – South Park’s bi-weekly farmers market. Come on out to the southeast corner of 14th Ave S and S Cloverdale St tomorrow, July 31st from 10 AM to 4 PM, for some locally grown produce and see for yourself how your streets are being used to support this community.
