Bike to Work Day

Bike to Work Day, May 20, 2011

Today is Bike to Work Day.  If you haven’t already, there’s still time to throw on your spandex and your helmet and hit the bike lanes on this absolutely gorgeous day for riding.  The Cascade Bicycle Club has created a handy map to help bikers find support stations along commuter routes.  You’ll find food and beverages as well as cool giveaways at most locations. More than 40 support stations have been set up throughout the region!

If you can’t ride to work today, you can still particpate in Bike to Work Month which runs through May 31st.  Even if your home is far from your office there are ways to fit bike commuting into your schedule.  Consider a “hybrid commute” where you ride public transit for a portion of the commute and bike the rest.  Some riders decide to bus in to the office and bike home.  Don’t forget to pick up your Seattle Bicycling Guide Map before you mount up.

So why not give it a try?  Biking to work is a great way to exercise and be green!  See you in the bike lane!
