Mercer Corridor Project – Weekly Construction Preview

This week, crews will continue to work on underground utilities on Valley Street, Broad Street and Westlake Avenue N north of Mercer Street and signal installations at Dexter Avenue N, Broad Street and Fifth Avenue N.

 Activities this week include:

  • Removal of a temporary traffic camera on westbound Mercer Street on Monday, May 13.  The camera will be used in a different location. The left lane of westbound Mercer Street between Fairview Avenue N and Boren Avenue N will be restricted between 9 and 11 a.m. while crews perform the work.
  • Continue Seattle City Light and communications duct bank work on Valley Street between Terry Avenue N and Westlake Avenue N.
  • Continue landscaping installation on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Mercer Street and on the south side of the I-5 on-ramps at Mercer Street.
  • Continue work on Broad Street in preparation for re-opening the roadway to eastbound traffic on May 20.Traffic impacts include:
    • Westbound Mercer Street/Broad Street will have a single lane restricted from Westlake Avenue N to Harrison Street from Thursday, May 9 until Friday, May 17.
  • Continue traffic signal installations at the intersections of Dexter Avenue N and Republican Street, Broad and Harrison Street and signal modifications at Fifth Avenue N and Harrison Street.
  • Continue sidewalk removal and utility modifications on SR 99 between Roy and Harrison Streets.

Reminder: Beginning Friday, May 17 at 11 p.m. through Monday, May 20, at 5 a.m., SR 99 and Mercer Street will be fully closed to traffic as crews begin major construction for Mercer West. Traffic engineers will continue to:

  • Monitor traffic on Mercer Street and on Fairview Avenue N.
  • Monitor traffic at the Westlake Avenue N and Mercer Street intersection.
  • Monitor traffic flow at the Dexter Avenue N and Mercer Street intersection.
