Mercer Corridor Project
Weekly Construction Preview

new sidewalk 9th and Roy

Crews installed a new sidewalk at Ninth Avenue and Roy Street.

mercer_logo_200This week, crews will continue sidewalk and landscaping work on Valley Street between Fairview Avenue North and Ninth Avenue North. Construction will also continue on the north side of Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North and the east side of SR 99 between Valley and Harrison streets.

Activities this week will include:

  • Continue sidewalk restoration on Valley Street between Ninth Avenue North and Fairview Avenue North.
  • Continue sidewalk work along the north side of Mercer Street between First Avenue West and Fifth Avenue West.
  • Continue installing poles and conduit for lighting on Westlake Avenue North and Valley Street.
  • Continue sidewalk work on the north side of Mercer Street between Warren Avenue North and Fourth Avenue North.
  • Continue installing dowels in the north retaining wall on Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North.
  • Continue electrical work along the south side of Mercer Street between Eighth Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North.

Reminder: Crews reopened Valley Street, Ninth Avenue North and Broad Street to traffic on Friday, September 20. These re-openings mark the end of major roadway closures associated with the East Phase of the Mercer Corridor Project. Travelers can expect intermittent lane closures and pedestrian detours along Valley Street as sidewalk and landscaping work wraps-up through fall 2013.

Traffic engineers will continue to:

  • Monitor traffic on Mercer Street, Fifth Avenue North, Broad Street and Ninth Avenue North.
  • Monitor traffic at the Westlake Avenue North and Mercer Street intersection.
  • Monitor traffic at the Ninth Avenue North and Mercer Street intersection.
  • Monitor traffic flow at the Dexter Avenue North and Mercer Street intersection.
