Fairview Ave N Bridge Replacement Moves Ahead with Move Seattle Levy Funds

Hundreds of Seattleites drive over the Fairview Ave N Bridge every day – and many don’t know it’s a bridge! The timber-supported bridge, located in front of the historic Lake Union steam plant is more than 65 years old and needs to be replaced.

Thanks to funding from the recently passed Move Seattle Levy, this important safety project can move forward. The new bridge will better accommodate all users along Fairview Ave N. Bridge improvements include a new bridge structure that meets current seismic standards, wider sidewalks, lookout points along the bridge, and a two-way cycle track. Crews are scheduled to begin construction in spring of 2017.

Last month, the community had a chance to weigh in on the project and learn about new bridge designs at an open house on November 10. Interested in learning more about the Fairview Ave N Bridge? You can find more information on the project website, including draft detour routes, schedule details, and bridge improvements.
