It’s Bike Everywhere Day!

May is Bike Everywhere Month and today is Bike Everywhere Day, the traditional start for many to increase their biking to work, to school, for errands, or just for fun. With nicer weather (finally!), drivers should expect to see more people biking everywhere.

For Bike Everywhere Day today, you may notice street-side celebrations all throughout the region featuring free bicycling classes for new riders, and other community events aimed at encouraging people to bike more, or for the first time.

As part of our Bike Master Plan, SDOT installs new bike lanes, shared lane markings (called sharrows), and constructs new bike trails and greenways to make it easier to bike around the city. The City’s goal is to make it comfortable for people of all abilities to move around.
