2011 Seattle Bicycling Guide Map Now Available!

Back in December we took you on a tour of Seattle’s newest bicycle facilities.  More than 20 miles of new facilities were installed as we continue to implement the Bicycle Master Plan’s vision of a 450-mile on- and off-street bicycle network.  While new bike facilties significantly enhance our transportation system, our bike map becomes outdated the moment the paint hits the pavement.  That’s why Seattle’s bike map is updated annually to reflect progress made in building our network.

The new, hot-off-the-presses Seattle Bicycling Guide Map is now better than ever!  The 2011 edition includes a fresh cover, updated maps, and new information about facilities including green bike lanes, bike boxes, and signed routes.  New facilities shown on the 2011 map include: the Chief Sealth Trail extension, the Ship Canal Trail extension, 30 miles of signed routes, 20 miles of new bike lanes and sharrows, and buffered bike lanes on N 130th Street, Admiral Way SW and 7th Avenue.

The map presents information about cycling in Seattle in a clear, easy-to-use, and friendly format.  Map symbols of the city’s bicycle infrastructure now correspond roughly with the King County Bicycle Map that can be downloaded at the King County website. The hope is that this map style can become the base for a standardized map that jurisdictions throughout western Washington can employ when creating new bike maps.
