North Downtown Seattle is changing, & we have a plan to keep people moving.
There’s a lot changing in North Downtown Seattle. It’s anticipated that 15,000 new households and 20,000 new employees will be added to the area by 2035. On top of that, the new arena at Seattle Center that’s currently under construction is expected to draw crowds for events up to 250 days of the year! This means a lot more people will be moving through and around Belltown, Uptown, and South Lake Union.
In anticipation for these changes, we launched the North Downtown Mobility Action planning process in Autumn 2017.
We proactively worked with community members, neighborhood groups, and developers to determine transportation improvement priorities that will support access and livability of these North Downtown neighborhoods in the coming years.

The final North Downtown Mobility Action Plan is now available!
This plan outlines the first ten years of transportation projects for Belltown, Uptown, and South Lake Union (see map above) that will be funded in part by the development agreement of Seattle Center’s new arena. The North Downtown Mobility Action Plan looked at existing community plans and planned projects, identified ways to improve how we move, connect, and experience our streets and public places, and evaluated and prioritized potential projects.
