A graduate class at the University of Washington has recently completed a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) of some of the proposed projects in the King Street Station Hub Strategy. This HIA reviewed health impacts as wide ranging as physical and mental health and health equity. The HIA makes several recommendations that will help City planners to make informed decisions about how transportation projects might impact vulnerable populations or reduce air and noise pollution during construction.
This collaboration between the City and the University of Washington has been mutually beneficial and will improve this project and improve the City for us all.
