Activities this week include:

  • Continue utility work beneath the roadway on Fifth Avenue North between Harrison Street and Roy Street.
  • Continue night-time installation of lateral storm water connection lines under roadway on Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North.
  • Continue sidewalk work and conduit installation on the south side of Mercer Street between Queen Anne Avenue North and Third Avenue North and on the north side of Mercer Street between Queen Anne Avenue North and Fourth Avenue North.

  • Continue work on the north and south ends of the west side of the SR 99 bridge.

Please note:

  • Temporary daytime lane restrictions on Fifth Avenue North will continue this week to accommodate utility work beneath the roadway. Fifth Avenue North will be restricted to one lane in each direction between Harrison Street and Roy Street during off-peak travel times, between approximately 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Eastbound Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North will be fully closed to traffic at night for approximately two weeks as crews install lateral storm water connection lines under the roadway. Nighttime closures will be in effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekday evenings, Monday through Thursdays. During this work, travelers can expect:
    • A single lane of eastbound Mercer Street will close at 7 p.m. each evening, followed but by a full closure of all lanes beginning at 9 p.m.
    • Traffic on eastbound Mercer Street will be required to turn right on Fifth Avenue North and re-connect to eastbound Mercer Street via Harrison and eastbound Broad streets.
    • Northbound and southbound Fifth Avenue North will remain open to traffic.
    • Access to Mercer Street from southbound Fifth Avenue North will be via Harrison and eastbound Broad streets.
  • Northbound Fifth Avenue North will be closed to traffic between Republican and Mercer Streets beginning at 4 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, through Monday, Jan. 20, at 5 a.m. Travelers heading north on Fifth Avenue North towards Queen Anne will be detoured to Fourth Avenue North to connect to Mercer and Roy streets and eastbound Mercer Street to reconnect with Fifth Avenue North at Mercer Street.
