Concrete Work at 3600 Block of Whitman Avenue N

The Seattle Times submitted a number of reader questions about transportation related work around the city.  Reader comment:  “They needed to replace the single slab and the adjacent curb, but in the process of pulling it up they damaged the adjacent slab and curb – and presto, had to now replace twice as much of the street.”

Standard practice for utility cuts requires the utility workers to place temporary pavement on top of the work area.  SDOT crews return after the utility crews are finished with their utility work to place a larger permanent pavement in the area.  You may have seen two separate crews working in this area, but it is a coordinated effort between two departments.  There was no rework at this location.
