Here in Seattle we’re in the process of transforming our transportation system. We must accommodate growth, but we can’t build more streets. Although it’s a time of tough budgets, we’re preparing for a positive future and a walkable, livable city. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, offering more transit options, and keeping goods and services moving. We recognize that all streets are different, and in each case the needs of the people who use them must be balanced. Our efforts must work to support a vibrant economy, freight mobility, and easy access to businesses.

This plan describes the actions SDOT takes to accomplish the goals and policies of the city’s Comprehensive Plan, Puget Sound Regional Council’s Transportation 2040, and the vision illustrated in the Changing Seattle’s Transportation Template brochure.
