Airport Way Phase II just started August 9th and crews are already set to finish the concrete pour from Royal Brougham to S Plummer. This weekend the southbound lanes get poured (last weekend crews poured the northbound lanes). On Saturday, August 21st at 7:00 a.m. the work begins and crews will work around-the-clock (FYI, nosiest activity from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday). It should all be wrapped up by the wee hours Monday, August 23rd.
And just remember, it’ll all go from the rough look Airport Way from S Spokane St. to Royal Brougham Way USED TO have (see below for the memories….) to the lovely smoothness this section now enjoys.
Crews will not work the weekends of Aug. 28th or Sept. 4 due to Sounders and Mariners games, as well as the holiday.
Airport Way Phase II completely reconstructs in concrete the entire roadway from S Royal Brougham Way to South Dearborn Street, adding a bicycle route between Royal Brougham and 6th Avenue.
