Alki Summer Streets May 22 – It’s everybody’s street… Imagine the possibilities!

Alki Summer Streets is happening in less than two weeks– Sun., May 22 11am-5pm.  We’ll be turning the street in the Alki business district into a place for people.  So come out and play, hang out, celebrate, relax—whatever you want to do.

Lots of activities, Alki businesses, local community groups, performers and more will take over the street.  Just a few of the activities are Irish Dancers, an ultimate Frisbee demo, free test rides on electric bicycles, Brazilian dancers, a petting zoo, a surf machine, henna tattoos, children’s photography, pet massages, Seal Sitters and much more.  (Pet massages and Seal Sitters are not related, by the way.)

When you open up a road, there’s lots of space for people, so come on down and grab some street with your own plans.  How about a game of kickball, street chalk art or road Twister?  With no traffic on Alki Ave you can even—imagine this—sit and listen to the sounds of the ocean!

Alki Summer Streets takes place immediately after the West Seattle 5K Run/Walk, so it’s a big, full day at the beach.

Just two days before Alki, Ballard Summer Streets is happening Fri., May 20, 4-7pm, near Bergen Place Park in celebration of Cascade Bicycle Club’s F5 Bike to Work Day
