South Park Bridge – Construction in progress

Just a few weeks ago, major construction got underway on piers for the bridge approach on the South Park side. There are now 80 workers laying foundation, and by next fall, as many as 120 workers are expected to be on the job.

It’s exciting for the community to see how construction is progressing. Folks can see lots of steel and concrete, and the caissons (the foundation structures that will support the main piers) are being built and then sunk into the river bed.

he completion date for the South Park Bridge replacement is expected to be in the fall of 2013.
