Moving forward with our Mercer Corridor Project (East Phase) work, this week our construction crews will continue with underground utility improvements near Valley Street, Fairview Avenue N and Mercer Street. Some of the construction activities this week will include:
- Continuing the installation of water lines on Valley St.
- Continuing the installation of electrical vaults and preparing them for new electrical conduit on Fairview Avenue N.
- Pavement removal in preparation for rebuilding sections of Fairview Avenue N.
- Proceeding with the electrical transmission cable pull on Mercer Street, which involves temporary lane revisions on Mercer Street west of Ninth Avenue N.
- Continuing the installation of new electrical infrastructure along the Mercer Street medians, which will require a single lane closure on eastbound Mercer daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- Beginning electrical and sign bridge foundation work near the I-5 on- and off-ramps. This work will require nighttime lane restrictions on the I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer St. It is scheduled to begin on Thursday and take about a week to complete.
On the traffic side of Mercer work, our engineers will be monitoring flow on Mercer itself and closely watching traffic at the Dexter and Mercer intersection.
