Mercer Corridor Project (East Phase)
Weekly Construction Wrap-Up

This week, crews continued to focus on utility installations on Fairview Avenue N and installation of new signal poles and mast arms at the intersection of Fairview Avenue N and Mercer Street.

Activities this week included:

  • Began signal pole and mast arm installation at the intersection of Fairview Avenue N and Mercer Street. Please note this work requires two lanes of eastbound Mercer Street to be restricted between Terry Avenue N and Fairview Avenue N for approximately two weeks.
    • Work will occur on weekdays during non-peak traffic hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    • Vehicles will be routed around the work zone and a uniformed police officer will be positioned to facilitate traffic flow.
  • Continued concrete installation on Fairview Avenue N between Mercer Street and Valley Street.
  • Continued Seattle City Light duct bank work and catch basin installation on the west side of Fairview Avenue N between Mercer and Harrison streets in preparation for rebuilding sections of the roadway.
  • Continued work on the median and cast in place wall for the I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer Street. Please note this work will be located out of traffic and will not require lane restrictions on the I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer Street.
  • Continued pole foundation and conduit installation on Fairview Avenue N.
  • Completed transmission line removal on Valley Street and 9th Avenue N.

Traffic engineers adjusted the signal timing along the Mercer Corridor and will continue to:
