Mercer Corridor Project (East Phase)
Weekly Construction Preview

This week, crews will focus on pavement removal and grading on the west side of Fairview Avenue N between Mercer Street and Harrison Street and signal pole and mast arm installation on eastbound Mercer Street.

 Activities this week include: 

  • Begin signal pole and mast arm installation at the intersection of Fairview Avenue N and Mercer Street. Please note this work will require one lane of eastbound Mercer Street and one lane of westbound Mercer Street to be restricted between Terry Avenue N and Fairview Avenue N for approximately two weeks. 
    • Work will occur on weekdays during non-peak traffic hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    • Vehicles will be routed around the work zone and a uniformed police officer will be positioned to facilitate traffic flow.
  • Begin underground water main replacement work on Valley Street and Terry Avenue N. Work will occur at night on Tuesday, January 15 from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Traffic impacts will include:
    • Westbound Valley Street will be restricted to one lane between Boren Avenue N and Westlake Avenue N while crews work in the center lane.
    • Terry Avenue N will be restricted to southbound traffic only between Valley Street and Mercer Street while crews work on the east side of the roadway.
    • Flaggers will be positioned to maintain traffic flow and assist vehicles and equipment entering and exiting the work zone.
  • Begin pavement removal between Valley Street and Mercer Street  and continue pavement removal and grading on west side of Fairview Avenue N between Mercer Street and Harrison Street and in preparation for rebuilding the roadway.
  • Begin concrete pavement on west side of Fairview Avenue N between Mercer Street and Harrison Street. Please note, this work is weather dependant.
  • Continue catch basin installation on Roy Street in preparation for rebuilding sections of the roadway.
  • Continue Seattle City Light ductbank work on Fairview Avenue N between Mercer Street and Valley Street.

Traffic engineers will continue to:

  • Monitor traffic flow on Mercer Street.
  • Monitor traffic flow at the Dexter Avenue N and Mercer Street intersection.
