Street grading at Fairview and Roy

Grading at Fairview Avenue North and Roy Street

 

This week, crews will focus on pavement removal and grading on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Mercer Street in preparation for concrete pavement on the east side of the roadway and electrical work near the intersection of Fairview Avenue N and Valley Street.

Activities this week include:

  • Continue pavement removal and grading on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Mercer Street in preparation for rebuilding the roadway.
  •  Continue concrete pavement installation on west side of Fairview Avenue N between Mercer Street and Harrison Street.
  •  Continue Seattle City Light electrical duck bank work on Fairview Avenue N between Mercer Street and Valley Street.
  •  Continue conduit and handhole installation for future street lights on west sides of Fairview Avenue N between Mercer Street and Harrison Street.
  •  Begin cast in place wall installation on the north side of the I-5 off-ramps.

Traffic engineers:

  • Changed the corridor signal timing over the weekend to give an additional 20 seconds of travel time to the east-west movement on Mercer Street during the morning and evening commutes.
  • Will continue to monitor traffic flow on Mercer Street.
  • Will continue to monitor traffic flow at the Dexter Avenue N and Mercer Street intersection.
