Fairview paving continues

This week, crews focused on sidewalk restoration on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Mercer Street as well as pavement installation on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Aloha Street.  Activities this week included:

  • Began pavement removal and grading on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Aloha Street in preparation for rebuilding the roadway. Please note this work will require a temporary detour for northbound Fairview Avenue N traffic beginning Tuesday, February 26 and will continue for approximately two weeks:

Traffic headed northbound on Fairview Avenue N will be routed east onto Valley Street and re-connect to Fairview Avenue N at the intersection of Aloha Street and Fairview Avenue N.

Southbound access on Fairview Avenue N will be maintained.

Flaggers will be positioned to maintain traffic flow and assist vehicles and equipment entering and exiting the work zone.

  • Continued signal installation at Republican Street and Fairview Avenue N.
  • Continued sidewalk installation on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Harrison Street.
  • Continued Seattle City Light duct bank work on Valley Street.
  • Continued installation of pole foundations for future street lights on west sides of Fairview Avenue N between Mercer Street and Harrison Street.
  • Continued cast in place wall installation on the north side of the I-5 off-ramps.

Traffic engineers will continue to:

  • Monitor traffic flow on Mercer Street.
  • Monitor traffic flow at the Dexter Avenue N and Mercer Street intersection.
  • Prepare for the full opening of Fairview Avenue N anticipated on Saturday, March 9th.
