Every time you move your car and see an oil spot do you feel guilty because you should have that leak checked? Do you keep putting it off because you’re worried about the expense? Well, worry no more! There is free help for you ! When your car drips and rain washes that oil into the drain, the oily water could then be washed into the sewer system which ultimately washes into Puget Sound. Protecting Puget Sound and all the marine life that lives in it is so important that the Department of Ecology and Seattle Public Utilities have teamed up with community colleges and some high schools to offer free auto leaks workshops to help you learn about your car and make sound choices for Puget Sound.
In just 2-4 hours, their workshops take you through the basics of vehicle maintenance such as how to identify and prevent leaks and tips on repairing minor common leaks. They also hoist your car and check underneath. You can also bring questions, too. You’ll alos receive a free Vehicle Maintenance Check Kit.
You can attend for only 2 hours if you want to skip the free car inspection (but, why would you want to do that?). Taking your car to a mechanic could cost you up to $80 for just a diagnosis. Why do that when you can get free unbiased advice. Certified automotive instructors teach the monthly workshops at fully equipped auto-repair training centers at South Seattle Community College, Shoreline Community College, Renton Technical College and West Seattle High School.
The workshops are open to everyone. When you register, you will choose a location first and then see the dates available for that location.
