SW Avalon Way and 35th Ave SW connect West Seattle to many local retail establishments, residential units, and services. They are also major transit and transport routes with services connecting West Seattle to the rest of the city.
Beginning Friday, September 6, we’re starting construction for the repair and reconfiguring of the SW Avalon Way and 35th Ave SW intersection to improve safety, accessibility, and comfort for all users.
We are excited to announce that once we complete the work in this intersection, we will have rebuilt the majority of the road base on SW Avalon Way! After the top layer of asphalt is paved in mid-September along SW Avalon Way, crews will return in spring 2020 to paint the final striping on the roadway. Thank you for your patience as we worked towards this milestone.
Here’s what you can expect:

This work will require up to 3 weekend closures. The work is weather dependent and subject to change.
