The City of Seattle is proud to be hosting this year’s Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Week at T-Mobile Park. The 5-day event begins July 7 and culminates with the 93rd MLB All-Star Game on July 11. We’re collaborating with our local and regional partners to keep Seattle moving safely during the event.

At-a-glance

  • Event organizers anticipate over 100,000 fans will be visiting Seattle throughout the week, including sold-out crowds of about 48,000 fans for both the Home Run Derby on July 10 and the All-Star Game on July 11.
  • Some streets around the stadiums may be closed or detoured to create safer pathways for people walking, rolling, and biking, and direct cars towards the most efficient routes.
  • We encourage you to plan ahead, shift your travel times, and avoid drive-alone trips through the area.
  • Walk, bike, or scoot to the events! We’ve created a “Green Path” with sidewalk decals that highlight walking and biking paths from T-Mobile Park and the All-Star Village to transit stations and destinations around Seattle.
  • Let transit take you out to the games! Ride Metro, Sound Transit, Kitsap Transit, the Water Taxi and the Seattle streetcar for free July 10-11.

2023 MLB All-Star Week is bringing a line-up of major events to Seattle! The week kicks off on Friday, July 7, and includes the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, T-Mobile Home Run Derby, the All-Star Game, and additional festivities throughout the city. Expect large crowds, event-related road closures, and travel delays in and around downtown, Pioneer Square, and the Stadium district!

Event organizers anticipate over 100,000 fans will be visiting Seattle throughout the week, including sold-out crowds of roughly 48,000 fans for both the Home Run Derby on July 10 and the All-Star Game on July 11.

Getting around safely and efficiently during All-Star Week

With large crowds expected in the Stadium District and Pioneer Square, we encourage you to think ahead, shift your travel times, and avoid drive-alone trips through the area. Some streets around the stadiums may be closed or detoured to create safer pathways for people walking and biking, and direct cars towards the most efficient routes.

To save time (and money) getting around the city during the event, try different modes of transportation, such as taking the bus, riding the light rail, using a bike or scooter share, walking, or taking a streetcar

King County Metro, Sound Transit, Kitsap Transit, and the Seattle Streetcar will be free to ride on July 10 and 11.

Additionally, to make it easier to navigate around the area during the week, we’ve created a “Green Path” with sidewalk decals that highlight walking and biking paths from T-Mobile Park and the All-Star Village to destinations around Downtown, Waterfront, Link Light Rail stations, and other nearby neighborhoods.

If you must drive, give yourself plenty of extra time, drive slowly and safely, and be on the lookout for people walking, rolling, and biking. Check the Seattle Travelers Map or follow @SDOTTraffic on Twitter before you leave for the latest updates and road detours.

Take transit

Several King County Metro bus routes serve T-Mobile Park and Lumen Field. Use King County Metro’s online trip planning tool to find the right route for you.

King County Metro’s fare-free days will run during regular service hours, from 3:00 AM to 3:00 AM to help fans get to the Home Run Derby (July 10) and the MLB All-Star Game (July 11).

In addition to Metro buses, the following Metro services will also be free to use on July 10 and 11:

Take light rail

T-Mobile Park is accessible by light rail via Stadium Station

Sound Transit Link light rail will run regular service hours, with additional trains running to accommodate fans attending the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game. Trains will run every eight minutes all day on July 8, 10, and 11.

Riders will not need to purchase a ticket from a ticket vending machine to ride Link light rail, Sounder, or ST Express buses July 10-11. While Sound Transit’s ORCA card readers will remain uncovered, fares will be set to zero if a rider taps an ORCA card.

Sound Transit will also be running special Sounder game train service, available on July 10 for the Home Run Derby and on July 11 for the All-Star Game

Use the Streetcar

Seattle has two streetcar options to help you get to and from the event area. Both will be free to ride on July 10-11!

The First Hill Streetcar is a great option for people coming from Capitol Hill, the Central District, or the Chinatown-International District. The streetcar route starts at Broadway & Denny (Capitol Hill) and ends at Occidental Mall (Pioneer Square) which is walking distance from the stadiums.

Ride a bike or scooter

We’ve been working to make it easier and more enjoyable to bike and scoot through the downtown area and along the central Waterfront, a great way to get to the stadiums. As part of larger, ongoing efforts, we’ve been cleaning bike lanes throughout the downtown area and repairing road damage such as potholes on streets, including any damage to bike lanes.

Don’t own a bike or a scooter? No problem! Sign up for a bike or scooter share to get around Seattle on two wheels.

Parking your bike or scooter at the event:

  • We built shared bike and scooter parking areas around the stadiums and are working with the bike and scooter share companies to use their GPS technology to help riders find these areas and ensure they park correctly.
  • Cascade Bicycle Club will operate a Bike Valet in the North Lot of Lumen Field on Monday, July 10 and Tuesday, July 11.

Take a Walk

Summer in Seattle is a beautiful time to take a walk and enjoy some of our city’s sights – like the newly opened Pioneer Square Habitat Beach – on the way to the game!

We’ve been working to make it even easier for residents to get around on foot. In addition to installing permanent directional signage throughout the area to make it easier for pedestrians to find their way, we’ve been making pedestrian repairs and improvements including repairing sidewalks, installing curb ramps and safety enhancements, repainting crosswalks, planting and trimming vegetation, and more.

We’ve also partnered with WSDOT to transform Railroad Ave S across from the stadiums into a welcoming and enjoyable pedestrian plaza to meet and gather in. This area was previously used for construction equipment staging for WSDOT’s Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement project.

The Waterfront Promenade, which leads to the stadiums, is easy to get to by bus or by walking from Westlake Station through Pike Place Market. On your way, check out the newly reconfigured 100 block of Pike St, which is now partially closed to vehicles to encourage walking, biking and scooting.

We’re also working with City and private crews to tidy up their construction sites and ensure pedestrian access.

We’ve installed new directional signs throughout downtown and the neighborhoods near the stadiums to help you find your way around.

Thank you for helping make MLB All-Star Week a safe and fun experience for all!
