Routine paid parking rate adjustments will take effect at locations throughout the city on Monday, July 10. This seasonal adjustment is part of our regular process to help ensure enough parking is available, based on the latest real-world usage data and seasonal trends. Data collected and reviewed from May developed this set of changes.

Overall, parking activity has been increasing since last year, and the new rates reflect the urban economic activity. Many paid areas of the city will see a rate increase in the afternoon and evening, while parking occupancies in the morning periods are holding steady or decreasing and rates tend to be low, mostly at $0.50 or $1.00 per hour.

Parking rates will remain $2.50 per hour or less at half of the neighborhoods and times. Parking rates will only increase in times and places where it is currently challenging to find an open parking spaces. Rates will not increase in 40 percent of the neighborhoods and times of day. Most rate increases are in the afternoons or evenings in busy neighborhoods.

We adjust street parking rates with the goal that one to two spaces are generally open on each block throughout the day to provide reliable access at the curb for business customers. This rate change is consistent with the Seattle Municipal Code that we’ve followed to adjust rates since 2011.
