Travel tips for April 24-May 7: planned construction, sports, & community events

SDOT construction, street closures, and travel impacts 

Please note: our construction projects take place throughout Seattle. To stay informed about projects near you, subscribe to our email updates. Select from a list of projects and subscribe to the ones you’re most interested in. 

  • Ballard Bridge closures
    • We’re closing the Ballard Bridge on select weekends this spring to complete important bridge maintenance and preservation work.
    • The first weekend is scheduled for April 25-28.
      • Friday, April 25: Lane closures start at 7 PM, and the bridge will fully close at 10 PM.
      • Monday, April 28: The bridge will reopen by 5 AM.
    • Please note: These dates and times may change due to weather conditions, crew and materials availability, or other circumstances.
  • RapidRide J Line
    • Harvard Ave E between Eastlake Ave E and E Allison St is closed for more than two months, as of April 18. The closure reduces lanes on a section of Eastlake Ave E to one lane in each direction.
  • Denny Way Paving Project
    • Therewill be short-term lane closures in both directions along Denny Way in the coming weeks between 7th Ave N and Westlake Ave N.
  • N 130th St Vision Zero Safety Corridor
    • We’re installing a new street design on N 130th St from Stone Ave N to 1st Ave NE on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27 from 8 AM to 5 PM.
    • One vehicle travel lane in each direction will remain open during work
  • Route 40 Project
    • We’re continuing to install street and sidewalk upgrades and improvements along Westlake Ave N.
    • There will be short-term lane reductions while we make these upgrades. Construction in this area is expected to last through the spring.

If you’re riding the Link light rail, get off at the Stadium Station stop and walk a short two blocks over. If taking rideshare, there’s a designated rideshare lot southeast of the ballpark. If driving, the Mariners Garage opens three hours before game time.

Biking, scooting, walking, or rolling to the game may also be great options, depending on your trip. Find more information on navigating to T-Mobile Park here

For all publicly ticketed events, guests receive a free public transit pass with their ticket. If driving to the arena, there are three parking garages available. Find more information on navigating to the arena here

April 24-27: Seattle King County Clinic 2025 – Seattle Center

Organized by the Seattle Center Foundation, “this four-day clinic provides FREE dental, vision, medical, and social services to more than 3,000 people who struggle to access and/or afford care each year. As a low-barrier clinic, patients do not need any form of documentation or proof of income, insurance, or immigration status to receive care.”

April 27: Walk MS – Gas Works Park to UW

Fundraising for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Walk MS Seattle will start at Gas Works Park and will kick off at 10:00 AM. There is a one-mile route and a three-mile route. The walks will take place between Gas Works Park and the University of Washington, mostly along the Burke-Gilman Trail. For more information, including registration and detailed routes, click here.
