With major construction projects underway, international events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ on the horizon, and travel disruptions expected across the region, we’re helping people like you to get around more efficiently – with less stress.

Today, we relaunched FlipYourTrip.org, an upgraded online hub filled with tools, resources, and incentives to help you plan ahead, explore options beyond driving alone, use new bus lanes, and navigate a challenging season of travel.

What’s New at FlipYourTrip.org

FlipYourTrip.org has been upgraded to provide you with:

  • Trip planning tools for all modes of travel
  • How to pay for transit, including discounted fare options
  • Accessible travel tools for seniors and people with disabilities
  • Tips for biking, scooting, walking, and sharing rides
  • Info on ORCA cards, the TransitGO app, and other helpful resources

Take the Pledge. Get up to $25 in Transit Fare.

As part of this summer’s campaign, we’re also offering an incentive: Pledge to flip at least one car trip per week into greater downtown Seattle – by taking transit, walking, biking, or carpooling – and receive up to $25 in public transit fare via an ORCA card or TransitGO app code (while supplies last). The Flip Your Trip pledge is open to all Seattle residents.

As WSDOT’s Revive I-5 construction continues and Seattle prepares to host major international events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup™, SDOT and partners are expanding access to a more connected, multimodal transportation network.

That includes Sound Transit 3 light rail expansion, protected bike lanes, improved sidewalks, new bus lanes on Rainier Ave S and Aurora Ave N, and new bike and scooter share tools, as well as a free waterfront shuttle and key SDOT projects funded by the voter-approved Seattle Transportation Levy – all aimed at making travel safer, more convenient, and more reliable.

What People Are Saying

“This summer and beyond, we know getting around Seattle will be tough—but we’re meeting that challenge head-on,” said Adiam Emery, SDOT Interim Director. “We’ve partnered across agencies and invested in real infrastructure upgrades to make travel safer and more convenient. Through our five-part strategy—monitoring the transportation system, keeping buses frequent and reliable, collaborating regionally, managing the right of way, and communicating with the public—we’re helping people move smarter, no matter how they travel.”

“The City works to lead by example and City employees are flipping their trips, too,” said Ross Peizer, SDOT’s MyTrips Lead (internal employee commute options and benefits program). “Through our fully subsidized City-issued ORCA cards, carpool/vanpool programs, bike programs, and personalized trip planning assistance, we’ve created easy-to-use programs and tools to help employees find alternatives to driving alone that fit their lifestyle, schedule, and values.”

“Seattle’s employers are on the front lines of keeping downtown moving,” said Alex Hudson, Executive Director of Commute Seattle. “By teaming up with SDOT on Flip Your Trip, we’re giving workers simple, ready-to-go alternatives—an ORCA tap, a bike-share unlock, a quick carpool match—so they can cruise past Revive I-5 lane closures today and the FIFA crowds tomorrow. When commuters have easy, sustainable choices, businesses thrive, streets breathe, and our city hums.”
