Imagine the Possibilities! PhinneyWood Summer Streets Friday, 8/9

Friday, August 9 is a huge family friendly party along Greenwood Avenue N from N 67th to N 88th Streets. This free event opens the city’s largest public space – its streets – so people can walk, bike, roll, run, skip and shop – without having to watch out for cars! Summer Streets is partnering with the Phinney Neighborhood Association and the monthly art walk for some good old fashioned fun. Check out our activity map for all the details.

What a great time we are going to have. TASTY brings Flotsam Jetsam—art from the sea—to their shop along with the 4th Annual Art ‘n’ Craft Fair; Naked City Brewery is sponsoring their second annual soccer tournament—a fund raiser for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center— on Saturday and having a pre-tournament party during Summer Streets; Detective Cookie will have chess games for the kids; and the Phinney Farmers Market is hosting their famous Zucchini 500 car races between 3 and 6 p.m.

Want more? Ayron Jones is playing soulful music at Valentine’s Seattle; the Maryhill Ratz are bringin’ skateboarding fun; and 826 Seattle and the UW Astronomy Department are partnering to set up an awesome Portable Planetarium that fits up to 28 people at one time. Volunteers of America will be building cool sculptures out of healthy canned food donations given to the Greenwood Food Bank.

There will be tons of fun for everyone! Forecast predicts 80 degrees. See you in the street. ♥ SDOT
