SDOT and King County Metro have substantially completed a one-of-a-kind project to drastically improve the busy bus stop at N 84th Street and Aurora Ave N. As we previously reported, the old stop lacked the space to sufficiently accommodate the nearly 300 transit riders that board at this location daily. To improve conditions for bus riders and pedestrians, this project partially closed N 84th Street and used the former street space to provide an expanded rider waiting area. Future improvements at this location will include pedestrian scale lighting, a bicycle rack, and landscaping. The result is a “bus stop plaza” that sets the stage for RapidRide service on Aurora.
