Seattle Bicycles into 4th Place in Nation

If you are a bicycling enthusiast, you’ll be happy to know that you are living in one of the nation’s top cities for bicycling.  Seattle is named the fourth “Best City for Biking” in the May issue of Bicycling magazine, which hits the newsstands today. Minneapolis, Minnesota was the top city; our neighbor to the south, Portland, Oregon placed second; and Boulder, Colorado placed third.

In order to give cities time to address challenges with their infrastructure, the magazine compiles this list only every other year.   The criteria that goes into developing the list includes: number of bike lanes, municipal bike racks, bike boulevards, government interest in cycling improvements, bike culture, to name just some of the elements of evaluation. Additionally, to help formulate the list, the magazine interviewed those in the know – local advocates, bike shops, and a variety of other experts.
