On Sunday, July 31, SDOT had the pleasure of participating in at the Pista Sa Nayon and Hispanic Seafair Festivals which are part of the Seafair celebration and are open to the general public and to people of all ages. Bi-lingual staff and volunteers had an opportunity to interact with the community and share information about the department and other City services. 
There were information booths, vendors, music and regional cuisines. In spite of the weather, hundreds of people from the Seattle area and across Washington State visited the festivals on Sunday.
Pista Sa Nayon (a Filipino phrase translated “town festival”) is the largest Filipino American festival or fiesta event in the Northwest and was held at the Seward Park Amphitheater and Park. The purpose of the fair is to organize, encourage, enhance, and support activities that celebrate the culture and promote the well-being of Filipino-Americans.
Hispanic Seafair 2011 is the annual Hispanic community festival of music, food and art, and took place at the Mural Amphitheater in Seattle Center. The Hispanic Seafair Organization provides college scholarships to qualifying young women, is dedicated to the advancement and education of Hispanic women and representing the Hispanic community during Seattle’s Seafair celebration and throughout the year.
