SDOT Participates in 2012 Regional Contracting Forum

Last week, SDOT and other city departments hosted tables at the 10th Annual Regional Contracting Forum. This is an event that brings together representatives from cities, counties, port authorities, state and federal agencies so that contractors, consultants, and suppliers can network and meet government contracting representatives.

The approximately 1300 attendees had the opportunity to meet government contracting representatives and network. By joining this forum, SDOT is able to provide information about upcoming bid opportunities to a wide range of businesses, particularly for Women and Minority Business Enterprises (WMBEs), as well as, promote business-to-business networking.

One of SDOT’s goals is to ensure equity in service delivery, hiring, and contracting. As part of this action, the 2012 goal is to achieve 12% WMBE participation in projects. Engaging in the 2012 Regional Contracting Forum provided yet another opportunity to reach that goal. For more information, read the 2012 Transportation Action Agenda.
