Seattle Remains Top “Walk Friendly” Community in Nation

Spring is here, so  it’s time to get out those sneakers and start walking! No excuses either – Seattle remains the top “Walk Friendly” community in the nation by the  Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC).  The only “Platinum level community”  Seattle tops a list of 23 other communities that have earned bronze to gold designations by the Walk Friendly Communities (WFC) program. Launched two years ago, the WFC program is funded by the Federal Highway Administration and FedEx

The “Walk Friendly” title means a city or town is being recognized for its success in working to improve a wide range of conditions related to walking, including safety, mobility, access, and comfort through comprehensive programs, plans and policies.  To get started,  you can visit our webpages to learn more about our Pedestrian Program and Pedestrian Master Plan  and even find a walking map  for your area of Seattle.
