Thank you PhinneyWood and Rainier Valley for letting us Party on your Streets!

2012 Summer Streets were amazing! We loved meeting old friends and making new ones.

Food Pyramid benefiting the Greenwood Food Bank

Our latest festivities happened at Greenwood/Phinney on August 10th and Rainier Valley on August 18th.

Thanks to our neighbors, visitors and volunteers, we built huge canned pyramids at each of these events. Attendees enjoyed chess games, experienced art, drew on the street, rode their bikes, played music, danced, ate and shopped. These events were made possible by our relationships with the Phinney Ridge and Greenwood neighborhood, Phinney Neighborhood Association and Art Up Chow Down, Rainier Valley, Rainier Chamber of Commerce and Columbia City Business Association.

A special thank you shout out goes out to our sponsors: Seattle Public Utilities, Waste Management, Urban Press Inc. and Keeney’s Office Supply.

We are looking forward to PARK(ing) Day on September 21from 9AM to 3PM and all of the creativity it brings. PARK(ing) Day happens every third Friday in September and is an opportunity for artists, activists, and community members to temporarily make parking spaces into parks. The event raises awareness about important issues like creating a walkable, livable, healthy city. You can partner with the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) under one street use permit, or you can apply for your own. IMPORTANT: Site plans and permit requests must be to SDOT by close of business, Tuesday, September 4.

Keep on walking, biking, shopping, breathing and playing and we’ll see you in the streets soon! ♥ SDOT
