This week, crews primarily focused on pavement removal and grading on Fairview Avenue N as well as continued electrical work on Fairview Avenue N and Valley Street. Activities this week included:
- Continued pavement removal and grading in preparation for rebuilding sections of Fairview Avenue N. Crews began pouring pavement between Mercer Street and Republican Street and removing pavement between Republican Street and Harrison Street.
- Completed electrical and sign bridge foundation work near I-5 on-and off-ramps.
- Continued electrical transmission cable work near Fairview Avenue N and Roy Street.
- Installed and prepared electrical vaults for new electrical conduit on Fairview Avenue N.
- Installed underground communication lines on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Mercer Street.
- Crews will install artwork in the median of Mercer Street on Sunday, October 21. This work will require one eastbound and two westbound lanes on Mercer Street between Fairview Avenue N and Terry Avenue N to be closed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
This week, traffic engineers will continue to monitor:
- Traffic flow on Mercer Street.
- Traffic flow at Dexter Avenue N and Mercer Street intersection.
