Mercer Corridor Project (East Phase) – Weekly Construction Wrap-Up

This week, crews primarily focused on pavement removal and grading on Fairview Avenue N as well as continued electrical work on Fairview Avenue N and Valley Street.

Activities this week included:

  • Continued pavement removal and grading in preparation for rebuilding sections of Fairview Avenue N. Work moved south towards Republican and Harrison streets.
  • Continued electrical transmission cable work near Fairview Avenue N and Roy Street.
  • Underground communication lines installation on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Mercer Street.
  • Newly installed underground water main connected on Valley Street. This work included night work on Thursday, October 25. Traffic heading north on Fairview Avenue N to reach Eastlake was temporarily detoured to Terry Avenue N and up Valley Street to re-connect with Fairview Avenue N.  

This week, SDOT traffic engineers continued to monitor:

  • Traffic flow on Mercer Street.
  • Traffic flow at Dexter Avenue N and Mercer Street intersection
