This week, crews continued grading and pouring sidewalks on Westlake Avenue North, and on Valley Street. Crews also continued construction on the north side of Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North and the east side of SR 99 between Valley and Harrison streets.
Activities this week included:
- Re-opened Westlake Avenue North to traffic and closed Ninth Avenue North between Mercer and Aloha streets for roadway improvements.
- Completed roadway grading on Roy Street between Ninth Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North.
- Began roadway demolition and grading on the intersection of Ninth Avenue North at Broad Street.
- Continued grading and placing of sidewalks on Valley Street between Westlake Avenue North and Fairview Avenue North.
- Continued installing poles and conduit for lighting on Westlake Avenue North and Valley Street.
- Continued sidewalk work on the north side of Mercer Street between Warren Avenue North and Fourth Avenue North.
- Continued concrete panel replacement across Roy Street at Sixth Avenue North.
- Continued work on the abutments for the east side of the SR 99 overpass over Mercer Street.
- Continued installing dowels in the north retaining wall and footing on Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North.
Please note, the September 6-7 closure of northbound SR 99 and eastbound Mercer Street has been postponed due to inclement weather and will not occur this weekend, September 6-7. More information about rescheduling the closure will be announced as it is confirmed.
Traffic engineers will continue to:
- Monitor traffic on Mercer Street, Fifth Avenue North, Broad Street and Ninth Avenue North.
- Monitor traffic at the Westlake Avenue North and Mercer Street intersection.
- Monitor traffic flow at the Dexter Avenue North and Mercer Street intersection.
