Mercer Corridor Project – Weekly Construction Wrap-up

Last weekend giders were set for the widened bridge on Aurora over Mercer Street. The crane and the Space Needle are in the background.

 

mercer_logo_200This week, crews worked to complete roadway restoration necessary for the re-opening of Valley Street, Ninth Avenue North, and eastbound Broad Street to traffic. This major milestone marks the end of major roadway closures associated with the East Phase of the Mercer Corridor Project. Crews also set girders necessary for rebuilding the eastern half of the SR 99 bridge over Mercer Street.

Other activities this week included:

  • Completed sidewalk work along the south side of Republican Street between Fifth Avenue North and Fourth Avenue North.
  • Began sidewalk restoration at the intersection of Ninth Avenue North and Broad Street.
  • Continued installing poles and conduit for lighting on Westlake Avenue North and Valley Street.
  • Continued sidewalk work along the north side of Mercer Street between First Avenue North and Fifth Avenue West.
  • Continued sidewalk work on the north side of Mercer Street between Warren Avenue North and Fourth Avenue North.
  • Continued installing dowels in the north retaining wall and footing on Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue North and Aurora Avenue North.
  • Continued electrical work along the south side of Mercer Street between Eighth Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North.

 Traffic engineers will continue to:

  • Monitor traffic on Mercer Street, Fifth Avenue North, Broad Street and Ninth Avenue North.
  • Monitor traffic at the Westlake Avenue North and Mercer Street intersection.
  • Monitor traffic at the Ninth Avenue North and Mercer Street intersection.
  • Monitor traffic flow at the Dexter Avenue North and Mercer Street intersection.
