It’s the beginning of a new month and a busy time here in Seattle! Learn about the events happening in Seattle this week and plan ahead.

 

MON. JUL 29 – SAT. AUG 3

 

Seafair Fleet Week and Boeing Maritime Celebration: Seafair has hosted Fleet Week on the Seattle waterfront since 1950 in celebration of the men and women who serve our country. This year Seafair, along with the Seattle Navy League and the Port of Seattle, is proud to welcome vessels and personnel from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Come to the Seattle waterfront and Piers 66 and 69 on Monday, July 29 at 12:30 PM for a majestic Parade of Ships showcasing these spectacular vessels.  Ship tours are Tuesday, July 30 through Saturday, August 3.  Expect traffic congestion along the Waterfront.

 

THURS. AUG 1

 

Seattle Art Fair: At CenturyLink Field Event Center.  Thursday is preview day.  Preview hours: 3:30 PM – 6 PM, and 6 PM – 9 PM.  Estimated attendance: 2,000.

 

FRI. AUG 2

 

Seafair Weekend Festival: A Pacific Northwest tradition since 1950, Seafair Weekend Festival is the culmination of the summer long Seafair Festival. Featuring hydroplane racing on the water; Blue Angels, The Army’s Golden Knights, and aerobatic planes perform in the sky; world-class wakeboarding tricks just off-shore; a Classic Car Show; and music and entertainment on land.  The festivities in Genesee Park and along Lake Washington Blvd. S. run from 9 AM to 5 PM Friday. Attendance is estimated at 50,000 per day on Friday and Saturday, and 75,000 on Sunday.

 

Umoja Fest Africatown Heritage Festival Rally: Annual festival celebrates African American culture and community in Judkins Park with bands, fashion shows and basketball competitions.  The festival hours are from 10 AM to 10 PM daily.  Attendance is about 4,500 over the weekend.

 

Seattle Art Fair: At CenturyLink Field Event Center.  Fair hours: 11 AM – 8 PM.  Estimated attendance: 2,000.

 

Magnolia Summerfest: 67th annual summer festival at Magnolia Playfield at 33rd Ave W and W Smith St.  Festival hours are 3 PM – 11 PM Friday, 8 AM – 11 PM Saturday, and 10 AM – 5 PM Sunday.  Estimated attendance: 200.

 

 

SAT. AUG 3

SLU Saturday Market: Weekly Market closes 9th Ave N between Denny Way and John St.  Market hours are 11 AM – 4 PM Saturday.  Estimated attendance: 2,500.

 

Umoja Fest Africatown Heritage Parade March: Saturday’s parade features drill teams and community organizations starting at 1 PM at 23rd Ave and E Union St.  The route heads southbound on 23rd, west on S Jackson St, and southbound on 20th Pl S into the Festival at Judkins Park.  About 1,075 are expected to attend.

 

Lake City Summer Festival Parade: Annual parade on Lake City Way NE between NE 135th St and NE 125th St.  The parade will turn on NE 125th St, and head west to 26th Ave NE.  Kid’s parade at 6 PM, followed by Dog Parade at 6:30 PM and Grand Parade at 7 PM.  Estimated attendance: 5,400.

 

Greatest Party Known to Humankind: Celebrate biking in the streets of Georgetown from 6 PM until 1 AM.  Airport Way S will close between Corson Avenue S and 13th Avenue S from 12 PM Saturday through 3 AM on Sunday morning.  About 4,000 are expected to attend.

 

SUN. AUG 4
