The Seattle Fire Department will test the fire hydrants located on the West Seattle Bridge on August 19. Due to the difficulty of accessing the hydrants during normal traffic flow, the inside lanes of the West Seattle Bridge will be closed to allow for traffic control set-up and testing.
Ensuring fire hydrants work properly, ahead of a real emergency occurring, is key to keeping the community safe. Firefighters utilize fire hydrants to get a water supply for putting out building fires, vehicle fires, and brush fires. This work ensures the confident functionality of a vital Safety System for our public.
