We will be partially closing the intersection at 50th and Meridian Ave N to repair and repave the intersection.

This closure is part of the Green Lake and Wallingford Paving & Multi-Modal Improvements project. As part of this project, we are repaving and updating the design and major arterial streets in the Green Lake and Wallingford communities to create safer places for people walking, biking, taking transit, or driving.

Schedule

Work will take place from Friday, Nov 15 at 9 AM through Sunday, Nov 17 at 10 PM.

The work is weather dependent, so if there are delays due to rain, we’ll postpone the intersection work to the following weekend of Friday, November 22 through Sunday, November 24.

Lane closures

People driving can generally anticipate one lane to be open in each direction on N 50th St as crews work throughout the weekend. Periodically, they can expect one lane to be open with a flagger to rotate traffic in one direction at a time. People driving should expect delays as they drive through the area.

Detours/Reroutes

The intersection will be closed to all northbound and southbound traffic on Meridian Ave N during the schedules hours. Please follow the detour signs in the area to travel around the intersection during the closure. People will still be able to drive eastbound and westbound through the intersection on N 50th St.

Detours for people walking and biking

People walking and biking will be detoured one block north and south of the intersection. They should follow signs that direct them around the intersection during the closure.

Transit Reroutes

The King County Metro Route 62 bus station at Meridian Ave N and N 50th St will be closed and the bus route will be detoured around the intersection from Friday, Nov 15 at 5 PM to Sunday, Nov 17 at 7 PM.

Please check Metro’s online rider alerts and posters by the bus stop for the most up-to-date information.

Noise Impacts

People should expect noise as we break up the concrete, load concrete into trucks and pave the road. Noise impacts will stop by 10 PM.
