Just in time for Lake City’s Farmers’ Market

SDOT working…

Working…

SDOT has just completed building a beautiful block-long sidewalk on NE 127th Street between 28th Avenue NE and 27th Avenue NE. If you’re in the neighborhood, the spanking new walkway will take you right to the weekly Thursday Lake City Farmers’ Market.

And voila!

This year, SDOT is installing $1 million worth of Neighborhood Projects Fund (NPF) safety improvements at 31 strategic locations on streets around the city. This pedestrian enhancement was funded through the city-administered NPF program that works with communities to prioritize and build neighborhood projects.  The project was identified by the community as one which would provide the most benefit because it is a heavily used route connecting a residential Lake City neighborhood to the business district.

The project included building a concrete curb with a raised asphalt walkway from 27th Avenue NE to the existing sidewalk at the corner of 28th Avenue NE.  Some of the existing vegetation was pruned back to make way for the new walkway, but no trees were removed.  On street parking will remain.
