The pathway above is a great example of how SDOT is using the 2006 Bridging the Gap (BTG) voter-approved transportation initiative to chip away at SDOT’s maintenance backlog on lesser traveled routes as well as major arterials. Located on W Raye Street on Queen Anne Hill, neighborhood residents sought to have the path improved as a Neighborhood Street Fund project; however, the project didn’t qualify for that funding source. In response to the neighborhood request, SDOT reviewed the small improvement project that allows residents to walk to the busy Queen Anne Avenue shopping district nearby, and determined it did meet the requirements for BTG funding under the Sidewalk Safety Repair Program.
