Construction is underway for the University Link Extension, which will extend light rail service to the north, connecting the University of Washington (UW) and Capitol Hill to downtown Seattle and the airport. Included in this project are 3.15 miles of new tunnel track and two underground stations. Sound Transit expects to start service in 2016.
