This week, crews will focus on sidewalk restoration on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Mercer Street as well as pavement installation on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Aloha Street.
Activities this week include:
- Continue pavement removal and grading on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Aloha Street in preparation for rebuilding the roadway. Please note this work requires a temporary detour for northbound Fairview Avenue N traffic that began Tuesday, February 26 and will continue for approximately two weeks:
- Traffic headed northbound on Fairview Avenue N will be routed east onto Valley Street and re-connect to Fairview Avenue N at the intersection of Aloha Street and Fairview Avenue N.
- Southbound access on Fairview Avenue N will be maintained.
- Flaggers will be positioned to maintain traffic flow and assist vehicles and equipment entering and exiting the work zone.Continue signal installation at Republican Street and Fairview Avenue N.
- Continue sidewalk installation on Fairview Avenue N between Valley Street and Harrison Street.
- Continue Seattle City Light duct bank work on Valley Street.
- Continue installation of pole foundations for future street lights on west sides of Fairview Avenue N between Mercer Street and Harrison Street.
- Continue cast in place wall installation on the north side of the I-5 off-ramps.
- Perform striping required to reopen Fairview Avenue N.
Traffic engineers will continue to:
- Monitor traffic flow on Mercer Street.
- Monitor traffic flow at the Dexter Avenue N and Mercer Street intersection.
- Prepare for the full opening of Fairview Avenue N on Saturday, March 9.
