Crews paved the parking lane on Valley Street
this week.
This week, crews continued grading and paving the roadway on Valley Street, Broad Street and Westlake Avenue North, north of Mercer Street. Crews also continued construction on the north side of Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North and the east side of SR 99 between Valley and Harrison streets.
Activities this week included:
- Began underground electrical work across Roy Street at Sixth Avenue North. Please note, Roy Street east of Sixth Avenue North will be local access only for approximately one week with no right turns from SR 99 onto Roy Street being permitted.
- Completed pavement installation on Westlake Avenue North between Mercer Street and Ninth Avenue North. Continued pavement grading and paving on Broad Street between Ninth Avenue North and Westlake Avenue North; and on Valley Street between Terry Avenue North and Fairview Avenue North, in preparation for rebuilding the roadway.
- Continued to grade and pour sidewalks on Westlake Avenue North between Mercer Street and Ninth Avenue North and on Valley Street between Westlake Avenue North and Fairview Avenue North.
- Continued sidewalk saw cutting and removal on the north side of Mercer Street between Third Avenue North and Fourth Avenue North and began conduit crossing across Third Avenue N at Mercer Street midweek.
- Continued sidewalk work on the east side of Fourth Avenue North between Roy and Mercer streets.
- Continued work on the abutments for the east side of the SR 99 overpass over Mercer Street.
- Continued installing dowels in the north retaining wall and footing on Mercer Street between Fifth Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North.
- Continued pole and conduit installation for new signals on Valley Street.
Traffic engineers will continue to:
- Monitor traffic on Mercer Street, Fifth Avenue North, Broad Street and Ninth Avenue North.
- Monitor traffic at the Westlake Avenue North and Mercer Street intersection.
- Monitor traffic flow at the Dexter Avenue North and Mercer Street intersection.
