Pike People Street: More Fun is on the Way!

Pike People Street 2017 is off to an exciting start! We’ve already done three nights of Pike People Street this summer (plus one night of the Capitol Hill Art Walk)!

A heads up: there will be no Pike People Street this Saturday, July 22, due to the Capitol Hill Block Party. We hope you still go out and enjoy the music! Pike People Street will resume the following Saturday, July 29.

Every Saturday night through July and August, the Pike/Pine area between 10th Ave and 11th Ave is closed between 6 PM and 3 AM for pedestrian access only. This creates a temporary, pedestrian-only space to enjoy community- and business-led activities on the street during your night out!

The first Pike People Street of the summer was held on July 1, and we got lots of positive feedback from those who came out to enjoy it. Outdoor sidewalk cafes were filled with people enjoying a beautiful summer evening, while others wandered through the open space or made themselves comfortable at the open tables and chairs in the street.

Lots of diverse and creative activities have filled our People Street nights so far, including decorated pianos from Pianos in the Park, a mini-market, sidewalk yoga, a dance performance, and an “Ask a Mom” advice booth! Be on the lookout for more fun opportunities coming your way.

If you would like to be a part of this year’s program, we’re always looking for volunteers to help us with our neighborhood street study. It’s an opportunity to meet people in the community just like you and get their feedback on this program. Sign up as a volunteer right here.
