SDOT construction, street closures, and travel impacts

RapidRide J Line

  • Beginning as soon as Monday, August 18, we’ll close Harvard Ave E between Eastlake Ave E and E Allison St for approximately two weeks to repave the street.
  • Traffic will be detoured onto E Allison St during this time, and Eastlake Ave E will remain open in both directions.

Slurry Seal

  • We’re adding a layer of asphalt, called a slurry seal, to several streets in northeast and southeast Seattle.
  • During this work, select streets will be closed to all traffic and all parking will be removed. You can see the locations in the two maps shown below.
  • Work is underway and expected to continue through Friday, August 22. The schedule is subject to change due to weather and other factors. We encourage you to visit the web page below for the latest schedule details and project information.

If you’re riding light rail, get off at Stadium Station stop and walk a short two blocks over. If taking rideshare, there’s a designated rideshare lot southeast of the ballpark. King County Metro also offers many bus routes to get to the game – find more details at King County Metro’s Trip Planner tool or check out this list of trip planning apps.

Biking, scooting, walking, or rolling to the game may also be great options, depending on your trip. Find more information on navigating to T-Mobile Park here. If you’re driving, the Mariners Garage opens three hours before game time.

August 16: India Day Parade in Seattle

Celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day at the first-ever India Day Parade in Seattle! Hosted by the Consulate General of India and the City of Seattle, the event kicks off on Saturday, August 16, at 9 AM Celebrations begin at Westlake Park at the intersection of Pine St and 4th Ave in downtown Seattle.

The celebration will be a showcase of India’s diverse culture, unity, and patriotism, with an “India Pavilion” highlighting all of the country’s states.

Plan for street closures on 4th Ave between S Washington St and Pine St from 6 AM to 3 PM for the event. The street will be closed to both cars and bikes during this time.

August 16: South Lake Union Saturday Market

This Saturday, head to the South Lake Union Market for a vibrant shopping and dining experience!

Featuring over 100 local vendors, you can explore a wide variety of handmade goods from local craft makers, unique vintage finds and delicious food.

Please be aware that 6th Ave will be closed to traffic from 7 AM to 6 PM between Virginia and Bell streets, so please plan your travel accordingly.

August 16: Africatown Soul on the Water

This free, fun-filled, family-friendly evening brings the soul of the Emerald City to life with hands-on games, face painting, mouthwatering food kiosks, and exclusive finds from local Black-owned businesses. Set against the sea breeze, mountain views, and city skyline, this celebration is part of Africatown Community Land Trust’s Summer of Soul series—honoring Black legacy, culture, and the power of coming together.

August 30-31: Bumbershoot Festival

Bumbershoot is Seattle’s legendary Arts & Music Festival, held annually over Labor Day weekend at the 74-acre Seattle Center, nestled beneath the iconic Space Needle. It’s one of North America’s largest urban arts festivals, offering a wildly eclectic mix of live music, visual art, performance, food, and community expression.
