Help shape Seattle transportation funding
The Transportation Funding Task Force will support the City’s work to identify equitable and sustainable funding options for Seattle’s transportation system.
During public outreach to develop the Seattle Transportation Levy, community members shared concerns about the need to improve the City’s bridges, sidewalks, and paving on busy streets. The task force will build on that input by reviewing options, weighing tradeoffs, considering impacts across communities, and exploring funding approaches that are available to the City in the near term.
The group’s recommendations will help inform future decisions by the mayor and City Council.
What the Transportation Funding Task Force will do
Task force members will work together to:
- Review information about Seattle transportation funding needs
- Explore policy and funding options, with a focus on streets, sidewalks, and bridges
- Consider how different approaches may affect communities across Seattle
- Develop recommendations for the mayor and City Council
This is practical, public-facing work with a clear purpose. The goal is to identify funding strategies the City can act on in the near term, without requiring major legislative changes to advance.

Who should apply
A strong task force includes many viewpoints. If you care about Seattle’s streets, sidewalks, and bridges and want to help shape transportation funding decisions, you are encouraged to apply.
We’re looking for community members with a wide range of lived experience, professional backgrounds, and perspectives. We’re looking for people who are interested in shaping future transportation funding and are able to work together with other members who may have different opinions to reach a shared recommendation.
Whether you have technical experience in finance or transportation, have built sidewalks and roads, represent a non-profit, live in a neighborhood with transportation challenges, or care deeply about equitable revenue generation—we invite you to apply!
