Not to mention Sip and Savor launches at Pike Place Market, Chinatown-International District has new pedestrian lighting, and yet another bike path just opened up near Seattle Center.

All of this and summer hasn’t even officially started yet!

Summers in Seattle are packed with things to do and places to explore. That’s why we’re resuming our biweekly “Travel Tips” series this summer.

Directly east of Seattle Center, you’ll find a new shared-use path as part of the Thomas St – Phase 2: Plaza project. Key bike corridors include the Elliott Bay Trail and Alaskan Way along the waterfront; 2nd Avenue through downtown; Pike Street and Pine Street connecting downtown to Capitol Hill; Broadway on Capitol Hill. Train icons mark light rail stations, and a separate icon marks the monorail station. Elliott Bay is on the left, with the street grid and bike routes extending across downtown Seattle.

You may have also noticed new artwork on pole banners around the neighborhood.  Earlier this year, the Chinatown-International District Business Improvement Area (CIDBIA) held a design contest for anyone in the community to enter.

We helped the CIDBIA make it happen by providing financial support as part of the Downtown Activation Plan. The CIDBIA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping Seattle’s Chinatown–International District clean, safe, and thriving.
