Discover the magic of Play Streets and transform your neighborhood with smiles! September is a wonderful time to enjoy the sunshine and connect with your community. You can celebrate back-to-school, birthdays, the end of summer, or no reason at all!

You can host a Play Street year-round, but we’re making it even easier for Play Streets Week! If you’d like to host a Play Street on your block between September 5-14, 2025, we’ve made it simpler than ever to do so! To take advantage of this, you must apply by August 25, 2025.

Here are 3 different ways you can turn your street into a Play Street:

  1. Sign up using this simple registration form
  2. Apply for a Play Streets permit through the Seattle Services Portal
  3. Call us at 206-684-5253

We offer free interpretation. When you call, tell us – in English – what language you would prefer to use.

We do not require or ask for your immigration status as part of your application. Everyone is welcome to apply.

Play Streets are not just for kids!

They are a great way for you to meet new neighbors and make friends in your community. Imagine what you can do on your block when you realize that Seattle’s streets are for more than just cars!

Play Streets make Seattle a better place to live by giving you more spaces to gather, hang out, and have fun.

Hosting a Play Street is Even Easier on a Healthy Street!

Do you live on a Healthy Street? Hosting an event is super easy! Your street already has barricades and “STREET CLOSED” signs, so you don’t need any extra permits to hold a Play Street. Just follow the guidelines and print some extra signs to let people driving know about your activity. Check out the links below to learn more!

We hope Play Streets Week (September 5 – 14, 2025) brings smiles to your street and a chance to create lasting memories in your neighborhood.
